GOD THEY WERE SMART - MARCH 24 - 4.08pm
A valuable lesson in fun
I assumed it was going to be an intellectual presentation. After all, why wouldn’t I? It was titled ‘Great Women who Made History’. However, it was clear when I arrived that I had overlooked one, critical word (it was in fact monikered ‘Fantastically Great Women who Made History’) and as such I found myself surrounded by an audience whose average age was 7.
But, as it turned out, that was a bonus because this was a HUGELY entertaining and interactive presentation by none other than Kate Pankhurst who, yes you’ve guessed it, IS related - albeit very, very distantly - to that late, great woman who herself made history...Emmeline Pankhurst.
Interestingly, despite the fact that girls outnumbered boys by about 97 to 1, it was still a very gender balanced event with one young lad even volunteering to dress us as Boudicca, complete with flame-red hair.
