LUDICROUSLY GOOD - OPENING DAY, MARCH 17 - 11.22am
Peter Brookes, Times political cartoonist
If I ever had a last request, the choice would be simple: a review of the previous week’s Times newspapers. Not of course for the news but rather to slip easily off this mortal coil with an achingly acute - and delicious - sense of the absurd, courtesy of Peter Brookes, the paper’s political cartoonist.
Damn he was that good. And with a fan base stretching from the over 80s to, I kid you not, the under 10s. Indeed, might I suggest that Festival organisers prevent him from returning back to London later today and instead hurriedly book him for the next nine days (preferably maintaining his 10.00am slot so we can all feel cheered early on).
