1 hour

Sheldonian Theatre

£7 - £12.50

One of the best-known cookery writers and broadcasters of the last 50 years Delia Smith talks about her life and career and about a new book in which she encourages us to think more deeply about our existence.

Smith has been writing and broadcasting about food and cookery for many decades. Delia Smith’s Cookery Course has sold more than six million copies on its own. Other books have also included How To Cheat At Cooking, How To Cook and Frugal Food. She is also known for her ownership of the Premier League football team Norwich City.

Her latest book, You Matter: The Human Solution, is a departure from her usual territory. She encourages the reader to look again at the nobility and grandeur of who we are and our place in the universe. And she urges us to think more deeply about what it means to be a human being and how, by working together, we can build a future in uncertain times.

Here she talks to journalist Nick Higham, who was the BBC’s first ever media correspondent and is a former presenter of Meet the Author on the BBC news channel.
