Join bestselling authors Cornelia Funke and Emma Carroll as they discuss mystery and intrigue in their latest novels, their writing careers and all things children’s books.
Funke is Germany’s bestselling author for children and has sold 20 million books worldwide in German and in translation. She is particularly known for Inkheart and Dragon Rider. In her latest, The Green Kingdom, 12-year-old Caspia’s summer is transformed when she discovers a bundle of letters containing ten botanical riddles.
Carroll was described as the ‘queen of historical fiction’ by BookTrust. Her novels include The Girl Who Walked on Air, In Darkling Wood and Secrets of a Sun King. Her latest is The Houdini Inheritance, set on the English seaside in the 1920s. Escape artist Houdini is in danger and Glory is tasked with looking after Houdini’s precious trunk and the secrets that lie inside.
Discussions are chaired by Carolyn McGlone, founder of the May Literary Agency.
