Europe’s 100 Greatest Cathedrals SOLD OUT
Simon Jenkins
Wednesday, 30 March 2022
12:00pm
1 hour
Weston Lecture Theatre
£7 - £12.50
Conservationist and former newspaper editor Simon Jenkins says Europe’s cathedrals are magnificent and combine history and geography, art and science, and mind and body in one.
Jenkins argues that Europe’s cathedrals outstrip castles and palaces and rank as the most sensational structures anywhere in the world. He travelled across Europe, from Chartres to York, Cologne to Florence, Toledo to Moscow and Stockholm to Seville, to look at the stories behind the 100 best cathedrals everyone should see before they die.
Jenkins is author of the bestselling A Short History of England, A Short History of Europe, A Short History of London, England’s Thousand Best Churches and England’s Thousand Best Houses. He is former chairman of the National Trust, and a former editor of the Evening Standard and The Times.
This event is part of a series on the Christian tradition.
