Parenting on Earth: A Philosopher’s Guide to Doing Right by Your Kids and Everyone Else
Elizabeth Cripps
Sunday, 24 March 2024
4:00pm
1 hour
Exeter College: Chapel
£7 - £13.50
Moral philosopher, activist and mother Elizabeth Cripps looks at what it means to be a parent in a world so out of balance.
Why is what we think of as ‘good parenting’ in the Global North quite often the opposite? What does it mean to be a good global citizen? Should we be having children in the midst of a climate emergency? How do we break free of short-term consumerism and do what’s right for our children and the planet? Cripps offers a manifesto for the future and calls on parents to become agents for real change.
Cripps is a senior lecturer in political theory at the University of Edinburgh and researches and teaches climate justice. Her other books include What Climate Justice Means and Why We Should Care.
