Jancis Robinson and Julia Harding

Two of the world’s most respected wine critics, Jancis Robinson and Julia Harding, talk about the latest edition of the multi-award-winning The Oxford Companion to Wine, alongside some wine tasting.

The first edition, published in 1994, won every major wine book award and writer and woman of the year awards for Robinson both in the UK and the United States. The latest edition, edited by Robinson, Harding and Tara Q. Thomas, includes more than 4,000 references covering history, soil science, viticulture, winemaking, packaging, technology, regulations, tasting, sustainability, and the language of wine. It has more than 100 new contributors, who are experts in their field or geographical region, and new sections on issues such as sustainability and previously uncovered countries such as Estonia, Latvia and Finland.

Robinson was founding editor of The Oxford Companion to Wine and the first person outside the wine trade to pass the notoriously tough Master of Wine exams. She has been voted as the most influential wine critic in the world, writes for the Financial Times and for JancisRobinson.com and is co-author of The World Atlas of Wine. Harding is also a Master of Wine and senior editor at JancisRobinson.com She is co-author with Robinson of Wine Grapes and cartographic editor of The World Atlas of Wine.
