Husband and wife writers Greg and Kate Mosse discuss their shared love of writing and their recent books.
Greg Mosse is a theatre director, playwright and actor who has written, produced and staged 25 plays and musicals. He runs script development workshops at the Criterion Theatre in London and set up the Southbank Centre Creative Writing School and the University of Sussex MA in Creative Writing. During lockdown, he turned to fiction writing. The first of his novels is The Coming Darkness, a dystopian thriller set in a near future where global warming and pathogenic viruses have torn the fabric of society.
‘Greg Mosse writes like John Le Carré‘s hip grandson’ Lee Child
Kate Mosse is the multi-million bestselling author of Labyrinth, a novel that was inspired by a house Greg and his mother bought in Carcassonne, France. Labyrinth was the start of the Languedoc trilogy that also included Sepulchre and Citadel. Her work also includes The Joubert Family Chronicles, the latest of which is The Ghost Ship, a story of piracy, romance and revenge set on the Barbary Coast in the 17th century. Earlier novels in the series were The Burning Chambers and The City of Tears. Kate Mosse is also author of non-fiction works including Warrior Queens and Quiet Revolutionaries: How Women (Also) Built the World, which inspired her one-woman show and theatre tour. She is founder and director of Women’s Prizes, the largest annual celebration of women’s writing in the world.
Here they talk to journalist Nick Higham, who was the BBC’s first ever media correspondent and is a former presenter of Meet the Author on the BBC news channel.
