Gardening writers Henrietta Courtauld and Bridget Elworthy discuss the link between our soils and what we eat and explain how to cultivate soil to produce healthy food.

Courtauld and Elworthy set up The Land Gardeners in 2012 to research plant and soil health through growing, cutting and designing. They explain how soil is a complex system made up of minerals, water, air, plant roots, organic matter, insects and a web of micro-organisms. Caring for the micro-organisms in soil is just as important for our health as caring for the microbes in our gut. Courtauld and Elworthy explain how everything from the microbes in the soil to the seasoning contribute to a delicious and nutritious meal.

Courtauld and Elworthy are also authors of Clive Nichols English Gardens and The Land Gardeners Cut Flowers. They grow cut flowers, design productive gardens and run workshops on healthy growing.
