Cristina Dondi Introduced by Henry Woudhuysen

Book scholar Professor Cristina Dondi talks about her work to capture the effects of the printing revolution of the 15th century on European and American society.

Dondi leads the 15cBOOKTRADE project, which has seen an army of scholars and librarians around the world spend the last ten years looking at the effects of the printing revolution. How much did printed books cost, how far did they circulate, who was purchasing them, how were they used and annotated? But also, how did they survive to this day? Half a million still can be found in our libraries. Dondi says the comparison with the ongoing digital revolution is instructive and surprising.

Dondi is professor of early European book heritage and Oakeshott Senior Research Fellow in the Humanities at Lincoln College, secretary of the Consortium of Europoean Research Libraries, and a recipient of the Order of the Star of Italy. She is the curator of the Printing R-Evolution 1450-1500. Fifty Years that Changed Europe touring exhibition, currently showing in Buenos Airies. Dondi will be introduced by the Rector of Lincoln College Professor Henry Woudhuysen.
