Acclaimed jeweller and silversmith Vicki Ambery-Smith looks back on 40 years of creating gold and silverware that capture places of significance to their owners.
Ambery-Smith specialises in architecturally-inspired works, from small domes and columns on stud earrings to larger bespoke presentation pieces. She looks back to her early days and to acquisitions of her work by, among others, Victoria & Albert Museum and the Boston Museum of Fine Arts. And she explains how she turns buildings such as Rome’s Pantheon, Sydney’s Opera House, and Oxford’s Sheldonian Theatre into a brooch, ring or box.
Ambery-Smith is based in London. She has exhibited internationally, and her work can be seen in collections at Victoria & Albert Museum, Royal Scottish Museum, East Midlands Arts, Houston University and many other museums.
