Novelist and BBC broadcaster James Naughtie introduces the third instalment of his spy novel series, The Spy Across the Water, featuring three brothers whose lives are entwined with the intelligence service.

Former spy Will Flemyng is British ambassador to Washington. Older brother Mungo is recovering from a heart attack, while younger brother Abel has died mysteriously in America. Will finds himself on a dangerous journey into his secret past, from conflict in Northern Ireland to the shadows of the Cold War.

Naughtie presented BBC Radio 4’s Today for 21 years and is now a special correspondent for BBC news. Alongside his novels, he is also author of books on politics and music. here he talks to crime fiction novelist and critic Peter Guttridge, author of 18 novels and a regular interviewer at literary festivals including Oxford.
