Sailesh Rao talks to Bill Tara

Systems specialist and founder of Climate Healers Dr Sailesh Rao talks about why humanity has to switch from a Planet A to a Planet B mindset to combat climate change.

Rao argues that we must make peace with the planet by moving away from the thoughts and actions that created Planet A and evolving into new ways of behaving to create Planet B. It means identifying the outdated and legacy systems that have got us to where we are today and replacing them with new ecological systems. These include rewilding, waste minimisation and reuse and recycling of resources.

Rao is founder and executive director of Climate Healers, a US non-profit organisation dedicated towards healing the Earth’s climate. He is a systems specialist with a background in electrical engineering who designed high-speed internet communications infrastructure in common use today. He switched careers in 2006 and became involved in environmental issues. Rao is author of five books, Carbon Dharma: The Occupation of Butterflies, Carbon Yoga: The Vegan Metamorphosis, Animal Agriculture is Immoral, The Pinky Promise and There is a Planet B. He has been recognised as a ‘climate hero’ by The Guardian. Here he talks to Bill Tara, a seminar leader, author and activist for natural health care for 60 years. Tara has established health education centres in the USA and Europe. He and his wife, Marlene, are founders of the Human Ecology Project to promote the vision of a healthy world for humans and non-humans alike. His most recent book is How to Eat Right and Save the Planet.
