Vaccine immunologist Professor John S Tregoning explains how we manage to stay alive despite the 17,000 diseases known to affect humans and the thousands of poisons, carcinogens and toxins in the environment and offers some insight into how we can live longer and healthier.
Tregoning takes an organ-by-organ look at the body and assesses life-extending diets and regimes to see what works and what is just fad. He examines the many ways our bodies can kill us from inherited genetic conditions to heart attacks, angina and the delicate workings of the brain and offers some thoughts on how we can best look after our bodies.
Tregoning is professor of vaccine immunology at Imperial College London. He had a regular column in Nature during the Covid pandemic.
