Join Olivia Laing for a captivating discussion of art, illusion, and desire. Their new novel The Silver Book is a queer love story and a noirish thriller set in 1970s Italian cinema, where beauty and danger intertwine and the boundaries between truth and artifice blur.

Laing will be in conversation with Eley Williams, whose acclaimed collection Moderate to Poor, Occasionally Good explores the shimmering edges of intimacy and the unexpected in relationships. Together they’ll examine the act of making in dangerous times, and art as a non-safe space of desire and delight.

Laing is a writer and critic and author of eight books including The Lonely City, Everybody, The Garden Against Time and Crudo, winner of the James Tait Black Memorial Prize. Laing writes on art and culture for the Guardian, Financial Times and New York Times.
