Spanish author for children and adults Elvira Lindo brings a performance for all the family of her musical tale El Niño y la Bestia (The Boy and the Beast) to the festival.
Lindo narrates the tale inspired by her father’s story of being sent to stay with an aunt in a devastated Madrid following the Spanish Civil War. She is accompanied by musicians Olatz Ruiz de Gordejuelam on violin, Salvador Bolón on cello, Ander Perrino on double bass and María Lindo, the project’s artistic director, on English horn. The event will be in Spanish with English subtitles.
Lindo is a journalist and writer. Her children’s books about the boy Manolito are seen as classics of Spanish children’s literature and include Manolito on the Road and Manolito Four-Eyes: The 1st Volume of the Great Encyclopedia of My Life. She is a winner of the Spanish national award for children’s literature. Her books for adults include Open Heart. Lindo has also written for screen, including an adaptation of Plenilunio, a novel by her husband, Antonio Muñoz Molina.
