Earth scientist Professor Tim Lenton says we can all play a part in triggering positive tipping points to accelerate us out of the climate crisis.

Lenton warns that we are already beginning to see negative tipping points in the social, ecological and climate systems we depend on. It shows we are already past the point of making incremental change. We need to change course fast to avoid the worst. Lenton says the climate movement, spread of electric vehicles and rise in renewables are all signs of hope. They have reached positive tipping points and are accelerating in the right direction. Lenton says we need more of these positive tipping points to help us towards global sustainability.

Lenton is chair in climate change and earth systems science at the University of Exeter and founder of the Global Systems Institute. He is best known for his work in identifying climate tipping points and the opportunities for positive tipping points.
