BBC cyber correspondent Joe Tidy tells the story of notorious hacker Julius Kivimäki, known as Zeekill, who blackmailed 30,000 Finnish psychotherapy patients with their stolen therapy notes.
Tidy says we underestimate teenage hacking gangs at our peril. He says teenagers are reshaping cybersecurity, cryptocurrency and organised crime under the noses of their unsuspecting parents. The rise of 12-year-old Kivimäki from a cyber nuisance to one of the world’s most wanted criminals gives an insight into the murky world of youth hacking culture. Tidy looks at the emergence of young hacking groups and talks to the hackers and the police trying to stop them.
Tidy has been investigating cybercrime for a decade for BBC news and Sky News. He is the BBC’s first cyber correspondent and is best known for tracking down and speaking directly to cyber criminals.
