World-leading gut scientist and bestselling author Professor Tim Spector talks about his new book, Ferment, his work on diet and health, his efforts in fighting Covid-19 and his leadership of the world’s biggest citizen science project.

Spector rose to public fame during the Covid pandemic when his ZOE Covid symptom Study app was downloaded by millions of people, who entered their symptoms. Spector is professor of genetic epidemiology at King’s College London and an honorary consultant physician at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust. He is an expert in personalised medicine and gut microbiome and ranked by Google as being in the 100 most cited scientists in the world.
