Former UK Business Secretary and ex-Liberal Democrat MP Sir Vince Cable looks at what the rise of Asian superstates means for the future.

Cable says China and India could wield enormous economic and political power and they are moving to fill the void left as the United States withdraws as enforcer of the international order. Cable looks at how these two countries will deal with their growing roles and what the implications are for commerce, international law and efforts to tackle climate change.

Cable was Secretary of State for Business Innovation and Skills in the Conservative-Liberal Democrat coalition government between 2010 and 2015 and leader of the Liberal Democrats between 2017 and 2019. He is a former chief economist at Shell and now a visiting professor at the London School of Economics.
