One of the UK’s leading public health experts Sir Muir Gray explains how the secret to living healthier for longer is not a chemical elixir but the knowledge from research that you can find in books in Oxford’s libraries.

Gray and his co-authors Larry Chambers and Charles Alessi have recently published a new edition of their book Increase your Brainability: And Reduce the Risk and Impact of Dementia. It incorporates the latest comprehensive research from the Lancet Commission on Dementia. Gray explains how the evidence shows that it is possible to live longer and better if you make the right lifestyle choices on health, diet and fitness.

Gray was the first chief knowledge officer of the NHS and was founding director of the NHS national screening programmes. He developed NHS Choices, which has more than 40 million visits a month and set up the Centre for Evidence Based Medicine in Oxford. He is a board member of the Oxford Longevity Project, a non-profit organisation set up to promote scientific breakthroughs that guide people on how to live longer and better.
