Join us for a celebration of all things bookish, an evening where the boundaries between story and reality grow deliciously thin. Fantasy writers Oliver Darkshire and E S Drake explore the strange magic that lives at the edge of storytelling, all served with a complimentary glass of wine.

Both authors weave humour and heartbreak into their fantastical worlds, echoing the wit of Pratchett and the shadowed beauty of old folktales. In this cosy book club setting, they’ll discuss the craft of worldbuilding, the joy of eccentric characters, and why we keep returning to the stories that enchant us.

Drake explored different genres of writing while building a business teaching archery and survival skills. The darker aspects of her past have been her main motivation for creating flawed and complex characters to encapsulate the pitfalls of humanity, attempting to navigate our vulnerability with humour and compassion. She is author of Acts of Cupidity and Fortune Favours the Grave.

Darkshire is author of Once Upon a Tome, his memoir of being an antiquarian bookseller at Henry Sotheran Ltd, and of the Household Gramarye fantasy series. His most recent work is Isabella Nagg and the Pot of Basil.
