Mark Haddon

Author of The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time Mark Haddon talks about his new and viciously funny memoir of 1970s family life.

Haddon writes about growing up in the cultural wastelands of the English Midlands of the 1960s and 1970s. It is a story of The Weetabix Solar System Wallchart, walnut whips, the occasional Babycham and knickerbocker glories. It is also a story about being different, about being a cartoonist and a care assistant, about family, and about mental breakdown. And it is a story about how art provides a way of coming to terms with the mess of human life.

Haddon is both a writer and an artist.  His novel, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, won 17 literary prizes, sold more than 10 million copies and was adapted into an award-winning stage production. His recent works include a novel, The Porpoise, and a collection of fables and stories, Dogs and Monsters.
