Elizabeth Oldfield and Oliver Burkeman

Journalist and former think tank director Elizabeth Oldfield and author and journalist Oliver Burkeman reflect on how to live a meaningful life to the full and make the most of the time available to us.

Oldfield is a former director of the religion and spirituality think tank Theos and has a podcast, The Sacred, that explores the deep values of guests including Prue Leith, David Baddiel and Nick Cave. In her book, Fully Alive: Tending to the Soul in Turbulent Times, she explores what it means to be fully alive in a turbulent 24-7 world. She looks at questions of whether there is more to life than the constant juggle, how we can break out of our tribes, how we can resist materialism and how we can handle climate anxiety.

Burkeman used to write a column for the Guardian, This Column will Change your Life, and is author of Four Thousand Weeks: Time Management for Mortals. His latest book is Meditations for Mortals, which implores readers to stop trying to sort their life out and to start living it. He argues that we can find freedom and get more things done if we embrace our limitations. Burkeman calls his guiding outlook ‘imperfectionism’.
