Award-winning novelist Amanda Smyth talks about her latest work, Look at You, about a young woman growing up in a divided family.
The setting of Look at You shifts between Trinidad, England and Ireland. The young narrator must learn to make sense of herself and take her place in a world of contradictions.
Smyth is Irish Trinidadian and author of three other novels, Black Rock, winner of the Prix du Premier Roman Etranger, A Kind of Eden and Fortune. She teaches creative writing at Arvon, Skyros, Greece, and is a royal literary fellow at Exeter College, Oxford.
