Ruth O’Callaghan

Poet Ruth O’Callaghan leads a two-hour poetry workshop on use of the body in poems.

Attendees will consider how we can use the body in our poems:  it is with us from birth to death, constantly changes, makes different demands upon our attention and affects our relationships with others. Hence, it is an ideal source of information when composing poems.

The workshop will include exercises in meditation and critique before creating a poem. Participants are invited to perform their poem at a free event in the evening.

O’Callaghan’s poetry has been translated into many languages. She has read/lead workshops in Europe, Asia and the USA. She is a Hawthornden fellow, international competition adjudicator, interviewer, reviewer, editor and mentor and works with both novice and established poets. O’Callaghan hosts two poetry venues in London. Her latest poetry collection is Cell, a long poem, dramatised and performed for the commemoration of the Hiroshima bombing.
